Savoring Tradition: Top 5 Supper Club Food and Drink Staples

The quintessential supper club experience blends culinary excellence with nostalgic ambiance and social camaraderie. Or, as we like to call it, good food and a good time.

At Baraboo Supper Club, your evening begins with a warm welcome at the door and a cold drink once you’ve settled into your booth or table. That, friends, is when the culinary journey begins. Everything on the menu is delicious, but we’re sharing the top 5 food and drink staples that define the essence of supper club dining.

1. Relish Trays

A staple on many supper club menus, a relish tray is an appetizer that offers an assortment of crisp, raw vegetables, pickles, olives and savory dips. A refreshing palate cleanser, relish trays are perfect for sharing among the table, adding a vibrant touch to any supper club dining experience.

2. Wisconsin Old Fashioned

No visit to a supper club would be complete without indulging in a classic Wisconsin Old Fashioned. Choose whiskey or for a real taste of Wisconsin, brandy, with muddled orange and cherry, sugar, bitters and soda. This beloved tradition is an absolute “must.”

3. Baked French Onion Soup

Baked French onion soup has secured its place as a staple on supper club menus, past and present. This familiar favorite tantalizes the taste buds with its rich, savory broth, caramelized onions, and a crown of melted Gruyère cheese – always served piping hot.

4. Prime Rib

The main event of the supper club experience, prime rib stands as a symbol of quality and culinary mastery. The term "prime" in prime rib refers to the highest grade of beef, indicating superior flavor and tenderness. Slow roasted to perfection and served with au jus and horseradish sauce, this succulent cut of beef is a favorite among guests.

5. Grasshopper Cocktail

Rounding out our list of supper club staples is the Grasshopper cocktail. Made with equal parts green crème de menthe, white crème de cacao, and cream, this creamy concoction is as refreshing as it is indulgent. Served in a chilled glass and garnished with a sprig of fresh mint, the Grasshopper is the perfect way to cap off the evening.  At Baraboo Supper Club, we serve ours as a boozy ice cream drink, doubling as both a cocktail and a dessert.

We invite you to savor the flavors, traditions, and warm hospitality of Baraboo Supper Club inside Hotel Renegade in downtown Boise, Idaho. Cheers to good food, good company, and the enduring legacy of supper club culture!
